WHAT IS THE JOHN CAMPBELL MEDAL?
The John Campbell Medal is a prestigious award presented by the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (ICME). It is named in honor of Professor John Campbell (OBE, FREng), the renowned British engineer and casting scientist known for developing "Bifilm Theory" and the "10 Rules for Making Reliable Castings."
CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD
Unlike awards that might focus on general industry service or business management, the John Campbell Medal is specifically technical. It is awarded to an individual who has made a sustained contribution to the science and understanding of metalcasting through research and development. It recognizes work that aligns with Campbell’s own lifelong focus: moving metalcasting from an "art" to a rigorously understood science based on fundamental physical principles.
